Electric Vehicle Showcase Returns to Birmingham

Drive Electric Alabama will host a free electric vehicle showcase on Saturday, October 31, from 8 a.m. to noon at Pepper Place in Birmingham. The event, originally scheduled for earlier in October but postponed due to severe weather concerns, invites the public to explore a range of electric vehicles and connect with local EV owners.

Halloween-Themed 'Frunk-or-Treat' Experience

This year’s showcase features a special Halloween 'frunk-or-treat' activity, offering attendees the opportunity to see how EVs can be both practical and fun. Guests can discover how electric vehicles use the "frunk," or front trunk, for innovative purposes, while enjoying a festive atmosphere.

Opportunities to Learn About Electric Vehicles

Visitors to the showcase will be able to speak directly with EV owners about their experiences. Key topics include EV charging, driving range, maintenance, ownership costs, and the realities of day-to-day vehicle use. According to Alabama Clean Fuels Coalition President Michael Staley, "We find great value in being able to share the collective experience of Alabama EV owners with no pressure or sales pitch."

Diverse Range of Vehicles and Manufacturers

So far in 2026, Drive Electric Alabama has held 12 different EV events, bringing together 141 EV owners and vehicles from 19 different manufacturers. The Birmingham showcase at Pepper Place continues this tradition, giving attendees a closer look at a broad selection of electric vehicles on the market. Future showcases are also planned in Mobile and Hoover in November.

Special Offers and Incentives for EV Owners

Alabama Power is participating by offering eligible EV owners a discounted overnight electricity rate as well as a $500 rebate for installing a Level 2 home charger. These incentives are designed to support current and prospective EV owners and make electric transportation more accessible across the state.

Event Details and Location

The showcase will be held in the parking lot next to Jeni’s Ice Cream at 2930 Third Ave. S. in Birmingham’s Pepper Place district. The event is free and open to the public.
