With an illustrious career spanning nearly three decades, Dr. Lloyd Jones is no stranger to leading high-achieving music ensembles. Before joining Athens High School, Dr. Jones dedicated 28 years to the University of North Alabama, serving 26 of those years as director of bands. His tenure included the leadership of several groups, most notably the Marching Pride of North Alabama, a celebrated ensemble that has become a regional institution in the Southern USA.

During his time at the university, Dr. Jones guided the Marching Pride to national stages, including the prestigious Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. This experience placed Southern USA’s music programs in the national spotlight and elevated regional interest and participation in school music activities such as the marching band.
Commitment to Music Education and Program Growth
Dr. Jones’s passion for music education is evident in his expansive portfolio. He has composed and arranged shows for more than 300 high schools and college bands, enriching the musical journeys of students across the country.
